Retired Greyhound Walk – Monday 3 May 2010 (bank holiday)

On Monday 3 May 2010, you are invited to join us for our first fund raising greyhound walk of 2010 at Fleet Pond, Hampshire. There will be several previously homed greyhounds attending as well as a selection of those still waiting to find their adoptive families. We will be setting off at 2.00 pm from the main car park. There will also be greyhound related merchandise available.

This will be a social event for everyone attending and gives the homing team a chance to catch up with the greyhounds and owners alike. It is also a good opportunity for you and your dog(s) to make new friends. Greyhounds can be very “breedist” and do enjoy being in the company of other greyhounds.

Everyone is invited to join us, whether you have adopted your greyhound through Greyhounds For You or another organisation. You may just want to come and meet greyhounds as you may be considering greyhound adoption. There will be plenty of experienced greyhound owners present so you can talk to them and ask them of their experiences of greyhound ownership. Other breeds of dog are also welcome to attend.

We will be having a collection to raise funds for Greyhounds for You. All donations are entirely optional but the funds will be used to help the greyhounds in our care. Your donations will be put towards providing essential flea and worm treatment, the costs of neutering and dental treatment if required and of course pay for any veterinary care that the greyhounds may need.

If you would like to come along, please email homing@greyhounds4u.co.uk. It is very helpful to us if we know the number of people and dogs attending. If you have told us you will be attending and then cannot make it on the day, please either email the day before or send a text message on the day to me on 0787 961 5471, so that we do not keep everyone waiting for your arrival before setting off.

We respectfully request that all attending dogs are kept on leads for the duration of the event. This is to prevent complaints from members of the public and to protect the wildlife that lives there. A pack of 30+ greyhounds charging around “bunny hunting” will not publicise greyhounds in an appropriate manner.

Please also ensure that you bring drinking water and a bowl for your greyhound and sufficient poo bags to pick up after him/her.

I hope to see you all there.

Debbie
