Greyhounds For You - News

Updated April 2008

  • Debbie is working with Beverley Cuddy and Dogs Today behind the scenes on ways to positively promote greyhounds as pets.

  • Rob Alleyne’s book “The Trouble Free Dog” has been republished and was released on 29 February 2008. All at G4U would like to thank Rob for putting us on the list of useful addresses in the back of the book. We are the only greyhound specific rehoming centre that Rob recommends so we are very proud to receive the endorsement from the UK’s top canine behaviourist.

  • Very sadly, Laura passed on to Rainbow Bridge on Friday 4 April 2008. For the past couple of weeks, she had been suffering from throat cancer. Alan will miss her greatly as she has been his soul mate and companion for the past 4 years since his wife of 50 years died. Theirs was a match made in heaven.

  • G4U have just taken delivery of 15 beautiful handmade martingale collars. We will be selling this at events to raise funds.

  • We would like to congratulate Charlotte on becoming a qualified Bach Flower Therapist. Well done and all the best for the future.

  • All at G4U would like to thank Pets at Home for their extremely generous donation from their charitable foundation to aid and assist our work in rescuing and rehoming more greyhounds.

  • We are proud to announce that Greyhounds 4 U are now an approved partner of Pets at Home in their Support Adoption campaign.

  • Every day dogs just like yours need blood transfusions. However Vets must rely on their own resources to get blood donors when needed. Please consider registering your dog as a blood donor on the Dog Blood Donors Website.

  • We have ten foster homes in place should the need arise and many thanks to the people who have volunteered. If you would like more information or are interested in becoming a foster home please contact homing@greyhounds4u.co.uk.

  • In addition to this, we are also able to offer holiday home boarding for greyhounds. Please contact homing@greyhounds4u.co.uk for further details.

  • We are looking at ways to improve and change the web site to make it more sociable and proactive for people who have adopted through Greyhounds 4 U. If anyone has any ideas or suggestions, these would be gratefully received!

  • Greyhounds 4 U can supply adopters with greyhound coats. We can offer waterproof, hooded, fleece lined walking out coats (velcro fastening) at £20 each and fleece kennel coats (tie up style) at £10 each.

  • Anyone interested in being sent a free car sticker should send an email to homing@greyhounds4u.co.uk. A member of the homing team will be pleased to assist.
