Welcome to BARC Behavioural Training, the place to find specialist behavioural training for SIGHTHOUNDS.
“Taking Aubrey for a walk this morning I am amazed how much easier this has become. Walks are more enjoyable for her and me. Just implementing the few changes discussed has made such a difference. Thank you.”

A Little About Me
My love affair with greyhounds began when I was 8 years old, having been introduced to a litter of greyhound pups. I was offered one to take home but my parents said no as he would kill the cats! I vowed that one day I would have my very own greyhound.
It wasn’t until the mid 1990’s that I was in a position to adopt a greyhound in my own right. However, this proved harder than expected as at the time I was breeding and showing Siamese and Oriental cats. No one would home to me because I had cats. Eventually I found a greyhound trainer local to where I lived and I explained my situation. He felt he had the right dog for me and Nobby came home. He was terrified of the cats and my house bunny! Six months later, Skye the lurcher joined Nobby on the sofa. Skye was found as a stray in my parent’s home town. She too had no problems living with the cats or rabbit.
I became more involved with the kennels where Nobby had come from and it was obvious that while the trainer cared for his dogs, he simply did not have the time to home his retired dogs properly and provide back up once they were homed.
In 1999, Greyhounds 4U was born.
I became skilled at spotting potential cat workable greyhounds and lurchers and developed a successful training programme for others to follow.
In 2009, I qualified as a Holistic Animal Healer as doing things naturally had always been second nature to me.
In May 2025, I qualified as a Canine Behavioural Trainer and took the decision to work solely with sighthounds as they have very specialised requirements and are often misunderstood.
In July 2025, I held my first Master Class for sighthounds. 17 dogs were in attendance and here is some of the feedback:
"A very informative and interesting course."
"Really great day. Debbie’s knowledge of all things greyhound is amazing so it was lovely to have the context to support the training. Lots to think about."
"It was a great day yesterday and I was given tips to help in my dog's training, which I will be implementing."
"Lots of food for thought and tips to put into practice, especially when the mini JR is staying with us."
"Was a great day. Learnt how to deal with things differently."
